The Story of The Railroad Yard

For 46 years, The Railroad Yard Pipe & Steel Supply has provided structural steel and related products and services to customers in the Stillwater, Oklahoma region and throughout the Midwest. The company has steadily expanded its services to include steel building packages and components, welding equipment and supplies, and fabrication services. The old red caboose sits at the entrance of the yard, reminding customers of how The Railroad Yard had its beginnings. The Railroad Yard began as a family business in 1978 as a railroad salvage company, dealing in recycled railroad ties and bridge timbers.

In 1988, Bill Anderson IV followed in his father’s footsteps and became president of The Railroad Yard Inc. Through quality products, personalized service, and the ability to cultivate partnerships with diverse customers and suppliers, Anderson has molded the company into one that serves local, national and international clients. Living up to the company slogan of “We Deal in Steel,” The Railroad Yard Pipe & Steel Supply stocks a wide variety of new prime, new surplus, and used structural steel products, including, pipe, culverts, plate steel, channel and angle iron, containers, culvert drainage pipe, railroad tank cars for giant culverts, and railroad flat cars for bridges.

With more than 80 acres of steel inventory, The Railroad Yard Inc. is truly a steel “megastore,” and its products and services continue to expand. The fabrication division is a 12,000 square foot specialty fabrication center that houses state-of-the-art fabrication equipment, including a 750-ton press brake, computerized shears, saws, bender and rollers, an iron worker, and plasma cutting table. The Railroad Yard staff designs and builds products to serve the oil and gas industries, county road drainage needs, agricultural use products, as well as creates specialized items for any customer’s needs.

The Railroad Yard and its sister company RRY Services, LLC also serve county road and bridge projects in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri, supplying county governments with steel bridge component packages and railroad tank car and half-tank culverts.

Dedicated customer service is not the only type of service that Anderson and his company provide. In addition to excellent customer service, Anderson gives back to his community as well. Anderson and The Railroad Yard are pleased to support various community causes and have contributed many thousands of dollars to local non-profits and schools.
